Vertigo fans who live in Northeast Tallahassee no longer have to travel across town to get a fix of the restaurant’s juicy burgers, fries and shakes. David Gwynn, the owner and operator of Cypress, opened his second Vertigo on May 9.
We stopped there for a quick bite and were happy to find the same quality burgers, buns and sides but in a more cheerful setting. The place has an industrial theme similar to the original on Lafayette Street, but it’s much brighter, with plenty of windows and colorful walls.
For a basic burger with a twist, try Vertigo’s Round Here burger with brie from Sweet Grass Dairy, sweet onions and arugula. We’ll be back to sample more unusual choices, including the High on Quack duck with Thai slaw and panang curry sauce, the lamb burger with fried green tomatoes and the vegan black bean burger.
You’ll also find a list of salads, munchies and varied sides like sweet potato fries (my go-to order), quinoa salad (if you’re on your best behavior), pickled okra slaw, onion rings and skin-on french fries.
Vertigo also serves beer, wine and sangria. Another treat; at least for the time being, they’re giving away free cozies with a can of beer.
