Mother Sauces Cooking Class, Part 2: KitchenAble chef/owner Jessica Bright McMullen will demonstrate how to make the final three Mother Sauces: tomato, espagnole and Hollandaise. The sauces will be served with asparagus, fresh bread, and baked fish. Classes must be booked separately and it is not required that you attend both sessions. Cost for the class is $40. Little Dinner Series: This has been a Tallahassee treasure since 1957. Here’s the info: ” Each semester, students of the Dedman School work side-by-side with instructors to create a series of themed four-course dinners as the focus of their catering management course. Every element – from food to menu to décor – is conceptualized by a group of students tasked with planning and managing their own Little Dinner Series event.” Parking: Free for each dinner in the University Center Visitor Lot along Champions Way. Front row ADA parking available. Cost of the evening: $50, all inclusive; no tipping. Each evening includes: 6:30 p.m.: 30-minute cocktail reception with specialty drink and three hors d’oeuvres followed by a four-course dinner with two wine pairings. No jeans. Blazers required for gentlemen and complementary cocktail attire for ladies. Each dinner had a different theme. 850-645-1950

Plant-based junk food in Tallahassee (not kidding): You can try out some vegan comfort food from Los Angeles at this one-time pop-up at Lake Tribe Brewing Company. for this special one time pop up. Vulture Food will present Vegan Crispy Chik’n Sandwiches. (Loaded fries are made with GF ingredients but they are fried in the same fryer as patties that contain wheat. All items contain soy). They accept exact change or credit card.

Cooking Irish favorites: You can dine on traditional Irish dishes at KitchenAble cooking school, including: Irish pub aalad, Irish Soda Bread (with Irish butter), Shepard’s pie, and for dessert, Irish Whiskey Bread Pudding. Tallahassee Brew Bus trip: The Tallahassee Brew Bus will be making a trip to the 3rd Annual Big Bend Brewfest in Perry. This event features live music, food trucks and unlimited samples of local, regional and national craft beer brands. Confirmed locals that will be pouring include Proof Brewing Company, Oyster City Brewing Company, Lake Tribe Brewing Company, Fools Fire Brewing Company, Halpatter Brewing Company and Salty Oak Brewing Co. Tickets for the Brew Bus ride are $30. Tickets for the brewfest event at Rosehead Park in Perry are $35, and it includes VIP admission at 4 p.m., one hour before general admission gets in, and will get you a swag bag, free food and souvenir tasting glass. Food for Thought Tour: Hosted by Second Harvest of the Big Bend. Here’s their info: “Did you know that the Big Bend area has the highest food insecurity rate in the state? Have you ever wondered how Second Harvest food bank works to address hunger needs in our community? The community is invited to register for our free “Food for Thought” tours, which include an informative presentation, food bank tour and free lunch provided by Chicken Salad Chick. Registration is required; limit of 12 guests per tour.” RSVP to [email protected].

Third Annual Bottle Share at Deep Brewing Company: The bottle share, hosted by Deep and the Tallahassee Beer Society, will benefit the Down Syndrome Association of Tallahassee. It will also kick off Deep’s “Monthly Mission” at the brewery, where they pick one non-profit a month to donate a portion of its tap sales too. Here’s how the event works: Everyone who attends is asked to bring one or two beers to share and make a donation to the Down Syndrome Association ($20 suggested and there’s a bucket at the door). The event raised $1,500 in Year 1 and $2,000 in Year 2. You get to sample lots of different and interesting beer and do some good in the process. Tally Mac Shack, Iron Bridge BBQ, Decent Pizza and B’Mani’s Sweets & Eats will be providing food.

Railroad Square Craft House: Brunch is served on weekends at the venue through March 29. A new menu item will be toasted egg bread with a creamy avocado spread, topped with sun-dried tomatoes, goat cheese, and a balsamic drizzle for $6. On Sundays, DJ Jon J will be spinning some reggae and other music. Bottomless mimosas are $15 per person.
