Tallahassee has been having quite a moment on national television thanks to Guy Fieri, the celebrity chef and TV host of the Food Network show, “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.” His Valentine’s Day segment is at Leon’s at Lake Ella, where chef Leon C. Brunson one of our most talented Tallahassee chefs, is at the helm. My husband and I had lunch at Leon’s recently and it was delicious. I am addicted to his she-crab soup. It never disappoints. My husband loved a special of Japanese curry with shrimp (our choice of protein), squash, jasmine rice and roasted Brussels sprout. Excellent.
Leon’s is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays to Sundays. The episode on Leon’s will be aired at 9 p.m. Feb. 14. You can attend a free watch party from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee at 200 S Duval St. but contact Leon at [email protected] to be sure there are still tickets available. Coffee lovers are celebrating this weekend. The sixth location of Lucky Goat Coffee is now open in the former home of Vertigo Burgers, 1395 E. Lafayette St. in Indianhead. Contact: 850-999-2784.
Employees have been giving away free 11-ounce cans of the coffee company’s Lucky Goat Cold Brew Coffee, “Cold Gold,” as part of the shop’s opening promotion. I missed the sock giveaway on 7/27 but an employee told me they gave away over 200 socks to customers.
The new location is bright and shiny new – and the honey lavender latte was terrific, as usual. Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
Lucky Goat’s other locations are in Bannerman Crossings, Midtown, on Capital Circle, the Market District and South Adams Street.
